I'm Dreaming of.......

Gosh it is getting so close to Christmas. Most pressie's are bought and wrapped and under the Christmas tree. So there is just a little time to do another challenge. The White with One challenge was Green Flash. 'Tis the season so I thought that I would do a Christmas themed page. The photo I used was actually taken a few years ago but worked well with my page. The crispness of the green against a white background was a lovely look.

Love That Smile

OMG when I look at this photo of Fletcher I just can't help but smile. It is quite contagious. This month at Scrapbookit Jo has come up with a recipe, a little bit like a countdown.  5 squares, 4 buttons,  3 flowers, 2 arrows and 1 circle. Because I didn't want to detract from the photo I have kept the page quite simple. I really like simple on a page. The colours and Jo's recipe all work well together and I have also added a little stamping, and the good old twine and a few bits.

I hope that you have enjoyed my page. Happy scrapping. Heather B.

Believe & Be Yourself

As everyone, I can't believe that December has rolled around again. Christmas shopping is nearly done and the hot weather has arrived albeit a bit belated. The hot weather and I really don't see eye to eye so it gives me time in the air conditioning to scrapbook. The early morning is beautiful in the garden before the hot sun comes over and then I hibernate. My first challenge this month is 123 Challenge Blog which is...Silver, Believe and layers. For the silver I was tempted to go for the good old glitter but then I remembered a technique that I had used quite a time ago. I used some cardstock, applied a thin layer of glue and the smoothed some kitchen foil over this. When it had set I then used a Kaisercraft die, circle vines, to cut a circle to use as a frame on the photo. Then I die cut a few extras to add to the page. To frame the photo I also foil covered some cardstock and used this as the frame and the first of my layers for the photo. Sometimes when you edit your page it is not quite as you would like. But I think it will get the idea across.

Hello Sunshine

This is a late in the month post for Scrapbookit. The sketch challenge incorporated three photo's.  I had a very colourful paper pack that I had bought from Jo when I was at the Spring retreat. It was "What a wonderful Day" by fancy pants design. The colours were a fabulous combination to work to complement the sunny look in the photo's.  The title was some words I had that were wood veneer,  so I thought that I would colour them with distress ink. And then I thought of a wonderful old friend that I had not used for quite a while...Dimensional Magic. OMG it was definitely magic. I loved the finish so much I then did the wooden leaf and then the dolphin and I was ready to continue with more. I just had to force myself to stop. This is definitely something I am going to revisit on future pages. A few sequins and some twine.....my other go to items and the page was done.

Nan's Chooks

November is nearly done and Christmas is on the doorstep. Where has the year gone? I have has a busy month and I am just squeezing in a challenge for  Show us Your Stuff blog. The challenge was NO PEOPLE. Well back to the photo stash to see what would be appropriate  for this. Amongst the pile of photo's I found one that was taken in Nans chook yard. All the chooks are called Penny (alias Henny Penny) so that when you feed them and call them by name they all come and you can mistakenly believe that they are answering to their name. I am sure that these girls don't count as people   The theme I have tried to create is rustic. I have paper pieced some chooks to finish the page.

Guest Artist for Scrapping 123

This month I was delighted to be one of the guest artists for Scrapbooking 123. The challenge was Pretty, Peach and Pleats. This was interesting....what to do for pleats. After much thought I decided to try pleated fans. A border punch gave a sweet finish to the edge which I then inked. Some pretty flowers in the peach colour theme tied the page together.
I hope you enjoy my version of the challenge. Happy Scrapping. Heather B.

Live Colorfully

The Attraction for me with this challenge from Show Us Your Stuff was the colours. I was inspired by the beautiful colours from the dream catcher  and the bird and I also used the black and white from the zebra for shadowing the butterflies. I inked, stamped  and die cut the butterflies and also die cut the skeleton leaf. I brought out some of the beautiful colours with the spray of flowers and the twine. By keeping the page fresh and clean highlighted the happy and summery look of the photo.
While appearing simple the page has a lot of elements in it. I hope you enjoyed looking at my page. Happy Scrapping.  Heather B.

Adventure

This months challenge for the 123 Scrapbook challenge is to use the colour olive, distressing and the word Adventure. I have a lovely series of photo's of Chloe's wonderful adventure in Asia. As a three year old she backpacked for six weeks through various Asian countries with Mum and Dad. This photo is when she looked at the local Fishermans hand made "boat".....I am sure that there is a more proper name that the locals call them. Olive is an unusual colour but once I started to work with it I really enjoyed the contrast against the white background  that I like using. A bit of distressing and inking around the edges roughed it up. I am a flower lover....both on my pages and in my garden....so just a couple of daisies that I spritzed was my allowance  and then I used green leaves to add further embellishment. In the middle of this my beautiful grandson came in and presented me with a flower from my garden. How beautiful! "Here you are Grandma. I thought that you might like it." Anyway back to the page. I also used a Kaisercraft stencil to add a little detail to the background using Jo Sonja craft paint in Olive. I then used the same paint to colour a die cut. And then I gave a light spritz all over. And done.
Adventure
I think that I may actually be getting the hang of this I Pad thingy.  Because I have just managed to do this blog with only one little hissy fit. No tearing the hair out, no tantrum. All good. I hope you enjoy my page and Happy Scrapping. Heather B.

Exquisite

This has been such a busy month but I couldn't let the month finish without doing the 123 challenge which was Violet, exquisite and stencils. I hadn't realised how little I used the colour violet until I  started looking in my stash. So I just had to work with what I had.

This photo was perfect and was almost made for the challenge. My daughter had made the photo black and white and had highlighted her t- shirt which was violet and had then sent it to me in a batch of photo's. How perfect was that!

Taking the photo late at night is not a really good idea  but this is the only opportunity that I will have. I hope you enjoy my page.

Happy Scrapping. Heather B.

Edit. I have changed the photo from the original post. I just didn't' think that the photo gave  the lovely colours on the page the true benefit.   Hb

Explore

The 123 Scrapbooking Challenge for August was to use squares the colour chocolate and the word Explore. The photo I chose was delightful snap taken at Fletchers first birthday. I mixed a mid blue with the chocolate theme to soften the chocolate. Around the edge of the page I used a square patterned stamp to continue the theme.
I hope you enjoy my page.

What a great idea from Scrapbookit. An open book challenge to do what you like. I hope that this is not outside the guidelines but I would like to share a page that I have put on my blog a while ago. This page has a mix of hand sewing, pretty flowers, twine and some cute photo's. It is pretty and simple and just how I love a perfect page to look.

Because I love this page so much I really would like to share it again. What is your favourite page?

Memories....Happy days

What a beautiful challenge for the 123 challenge blog for July. Pastels, Priceless and Glitter. It just has my name on it. A beautiful combination deserves a beautiful photo and I chose one of Chloe with a fluffy tiara on sideways. She had just been to the beach on the Gold Coast and was going to have a little paddle and ended up totally immersed in the water. She loved it.

The glittery butterfly on the page was given to me by a friend and was a perfect fit for my colours. The soft pastel flowers matched the papers perfectly. Some glittery bits punched and they gave the page a lovely finish.

Unfortunately the previous blog did not go as planned. Stay tuned. I will not be beaten!

Hey Dude

Well this post has been a saga. I put out an emergency call to a friend and ultimately it was my 13 year old granddaughter who was my saviour. I am trying to blog on my Ipad. I hope you stay with me because I am hoping the final result will be fine. This is for the Scrapbookit challenge. Which was a fabulous sketch by this months guest artist and was to included fussy cutting, plus ribbon and/ or stamping and/ or buttons. This photo of my grandson was such a cute pose I just had to use it.
Edit number 5764 and hopefully a photo attached to the blog!

You're My Sunshine on a Cloudy Day.

A quick blog for Scrapbookit for June. It was an interesting sketch and I have played with it a little. The title was appropriate for the weather we are having. I have layered at the bottom using different border punches. I have used this idea similarly before and love the effect it gives. I have tried to keep the page clean and crisp.

I hope you enjoy my page. I am now going to have a cuppa having just about lost it because my computer is having a little hissy fit today and I am about to follow suit. Hmmmmmm!
Cheers Heather B.

Edit and PS: Ok. I have read through the requirements for the challenge a little bit more thoroughly and it seems I should have used the word Summer also. May be while my computer was on a go slow it knew something that I didn't. I hope the day improves.(: (:

There are so many reasons to be happy

I have just spent a lovely, lazy Anzac day watching the Anzac day march on the tele and lazily scrapping. The Autumn weather is so beautiful, peaceful and relaxing.
I have done a challenge for Kraft plus. I chose one of the quotes on the board as my inspiration along with the black/white colours.

Cheers and Happy Scrapping.

My Hero

When I saw the challenge for Scrap The Boys I immediately knew which photo I would choose to use. Grandpa really is Noah's hero. He is grandpa's shadow. He has been right beside him through all the doctors visits, hospital stays and now loves to be with him in the shed building, sawing, hammering and all that man stuff. He adores grandpa. And I think that there is a little bit of hero worship from the other side as well.
I hope I have done this photo justice as it conveys a lot of  meaning. I have kept  the page clean and simple because I wanted the photo to be the feature.

Story Time

This is a blog challenge  for Scrap Our Stash that  inspired me because I loved the colour opportunity. Orange and blue is a great combination and with the book theme as well I had lovely photo of Noah and  Grandpa reading a story together that fitted this criteria well.

I hope you enjoy my page.

Grandpa's Apprentice

Noah just loves working with Grandpa. He is always there right beside him, wanting to help, asking a million questions and gluing and screwing things together. So when my new, and I might add beautiful, kitchen was getting installed Noah was right beside him with words of advice and encouragement, whether it was needed or not! They are a beautiful duo to watch.
This April challenge for Let's Get Sketchy enabled me to bring in some good colours and to make it busy like they both are.

I hope you enjoyed my page.

A Favourite Place

Just a quick blog. The sketch challenge at Scrapbookit by guest Tania Ridgwell was a lovely start to the month. I loved the design and was able to create a page with a photo of two of my grandchildren having fun  at the weir. Finding treasures in the sand.

Guest Artist 123 challenge Blog April

My goodness this month has really got away in a hurry. I was thrilled  and flattered to be asked  to be the guest artist  for the 123 Challenge blog for April.
I have always admired white on white scrap pages and had thought that I would like to try this colour theme at some time. This challenge arrive sooner than I thought. It really is harder than you imagine and then to photograph it is even harder. But I hope a lot of you who read my blog give it a try. Come on prove me wrong.

Play

I have just had the most wonderful weekend at the Scrapbookit retreat in Bright. After a drama laden drive from Wodonga.....big storm, trees over the road, lots of wind and rain....my bestie Delsie and I had a relaxed meander through the interesting shops. We then found the most delightful little cafe to have a most delicious and healthy lunch. I loved it so much will go back again.
Anyway the main reason was that we were there was to scrap. One of the pages I did was the White With One blog challenge. The colour challenge was Lavender herb. This took me out of my comfort zone but that is what it is all about. The photo I chose was just perfect for the challenge and was taken at Chloe's birthday where they all dressed as Nursery Rhyme characters. Chloe was Mary Mary Quite Contrary.

I have added a few detail shots of my page.

Memories. My Story

Last month I had four pages posted by mid month but I have been a bit time poor at the beginning of this month.
For the123 Challenge Blog March challenge the word to use was Memories. The colour theme was Autumn tones and the extra challenge was leaves.Well once again a shuffle through the photo's and I came up with a perfect shot of Chloe in the Mt Lofty botanical gardens. The photo is a couple of years old but I thought it was perfect.

Cherish

What a visual feast the mood board for the Scrapbookit's March challenge offered. I was spoilt for choice and wanted to use all the colours and ideas. But I just had to settle for a lovely cross section.....the romantic sweet colours, the little bird house, lace, jewels, flowers etc. To finish  the page off I used Stampin Up Dazzling Diamonds glitter on the word Cherish. The photo I used of Chloe had been sitting in the box just waiting for the right setting. All came together perfectly.

Seriously

When I first started scrapbooking after my first grandchild was born, I was lucky enough to find an amazingly talented group of ladies at the local scrapbooking shop in Ballarat. These ladies were more than happy to share their talents and ideas with the newbies. Some of these little bits of knowledge still live with me today. A wonderful bit of knowledge that was passed onto me by the very talented Celeste was that if you didn't have embellishments in the right colour for the page, you just paint it, ink it or cover it with paper or change the colour any way to match what was needed. I know every one does this all the time now. But thirteen years ago it was a bit cutting edge.
For the White with One challenge  for February it is White with Chocolate. Chocolate is something that I looooove to eat but don't very often use in my scrapbooking. So armed with a Stampin Up Early Espresso ink pad I now have a  nice chocolate embellishment for the page and some stamping for the background all nicely co-ordinated.
This is quite a simple page but I thought the photo was so beautiful that I didn't want to lose it on the page with too much fuss around it.

Sun Kissed

Another challenge. This one is for Let's Get Sketchy week 2. Just made it. This sketch uses three photo's and I thought that I would use a beach trio. I have tried for a sea and  sand effect. And a bit of a tropical theme.

Hello Lovely

It's amazing where your inspiration comes from sometimes. The 1 2 3 Challenge blog for February was Red, Lovely, Hearts. The obvious choice at this time of the year was to do a Valentines day page. But I don't always do the obvious. I chose a  photo of a serene moment of mother and child but I could not find a way to use the word lovely that I was happy with. I trolled through boxes and drawers not once but three or more times waiting for inspiration to attack. Just as I was frustrated and about to give it a rest I just happened to glance up at my desk and there poking its head above all the rest in my flower box was a Coco Vanilla display card for some flowers with the title...drum roll here please....."Hello Lovely".
OMG!!!  Perfect!!!!
It was one of those epiphany moments that you just love. Problem solved!
Now I am back into the page with renewed enthusiasm.

I hope you enjoy my page.

Awesome

I found the Scrapbookit Challenge for February very interesting. What to use in the Grid challenge! Washi on the Tag...Tick. 5 Papers...Tick. 3 Embellishments...Tick. Stamping...Tick. Distressing...Tick. That covers the five requirements and I think I touched on a couple of the others also.
The papers were from a Stampin Up range and picked up the colours in the photo's perfectly. The photo's are of Noah enjoying his bread and Vegemite at Grandma and Grandpa's. Classic!

If I had a Flower

The mood board for Scrap The Girls challenge for February is a beautiful mix of black and gold. I had just bought an exquisite die from Kaisercraft and could immediately envisage it in gold. That was the start and the lead into my page. The next requirement was to choose a photo. I chose this cutie of a poignant moment of Chloe and Mum. Beautiful!

C'Mon Grandpa

Goodness me but the first month of 2016 has galloped by and is nearly over. After our heat wave and 40+ degree temperatures in the first half of the month  I am at this moment working in my scrap room listening to the beautiful rain and loving the cooler temperature. I can almost hear my garden sighing with satisfaction and contentment.
A late blog for Scrap The Boys.  I have been running a bit short on time in the second half of the month but I couldn't resist their colour challenge chart.
I have been a little bit literal in my version of the challenge. I loved the panel doors with the rusty panel and hinge, also the beautiful greens and the studs on the edges.  So I have tried to emulate the panels. I have used Dusty Attic rusting powder for a rusty hinge and key to the door. And I have also hunted out my stash of brads to copy the door studs. I was also taken by the bamboo and have tried to incorporate that as well.I felt that all of this sat well with a fabulous photo of Fletcher and Grandpa.

Lovely Chocolate Ice-cream

The challenge at Let's Get Sketchy was an interesting sketch with some different shapes and angles. Having two photo's on the page was great because I have a fabulous series of photo's of Chloe eating chocolate ice cream.  I will use the rest of the photo's on a pocket page and it will tell the whole story with this page as the feature.

Cheers and Happy Scrapping.

So Happy Together

Another challenge. I was thrilled to win a prize in the 123 Challenge blog for their December challenge.
Their January challenge is Yellow/Texture /Together. Yellow has always been a favourite of mine. Such a happy colour. On this theme I chose  some summery photo's and used texture paste that I had coloured yellow and stenciled some sun-rays.
I was happy with the bright and sunny feel to the page.

Pretty Cool

Well this page is the first cab off the rank for 2016.
I had a wonderful time at the Scrapbookit retreat in Spring and  I am looking forward to the Autumn retreat in March with much enthusiasm. I am looking forward to catching up with all the wonderfully talented ladies that I met in Spring. I picked up some great ideas especially a great way to amalgamate my single pages with project life.
Scrapbookit  have a delightful little sketch for their first challenge of the year. I used as the main an assortment of Kaisercraft papers from their Little One collection. Even though it was the boy range I was able to make a pretty and sweet girl page. I added some pretty embellishments and was quite happy with the result.

Happy New Year and I hope you enjoyed my page.
